Nature All Around Us
Opening Aug. 7, 2026
Level 4
Discover the hidden worlds and rich ecosystems within familiar places, from quiet spaces in backyards to busy cities. Nature All Around Us explores the world’s interconnected natural engineering solutions: how trees cool our neighborhoods, how streams carry storm water away from our homes, and how spending time in nature keeps us healthy.
We often think of nature as untouched by humans, but nature is thriving right under our noses in cities and towns! Filled with immersive environments and hands-on interactives, Nature All Around Us challenges the notion that urban and natural environments are separate and shows the myriad ways they are connected.
Exhibit features:
- See dozens of animal specimens from world-class research collections.
- Discover the hidden worlds and rich ecosystems through immersive media installations.
- Explore the ways our daily lives are intertwined with nature by taking a virtual bicycle ride through our own backyard.
- Meet the citizen scientists who record nature in their communities and learn more about how you can get involved.
