A museum visit is not complete without seeing — and becoming a part of — a Science Live show! Science Live programs are a magical combination of dramatic theater, science demonstrations, and interactive entertainment.

Every year, more than 125,000 visitors take in a show. Science Live performances are a chance to see real science in action.

For more than 50 years, the museum has supported an in-house company of professional actors, making Science Live the oldest professional museum theatre company in the world. This talented team educates visitors about physics, chemistry, biology, paleontology, and other scientific disciplines through creative performances that include freezing objects with liquid nitrogen, creating fire tornados, and taking a teen T. rex out for a walk. In one year alone, Science Live boasts:

  • 771 buckets of liquid nitrogen poured
  • 359 fire tornadoes made
  • 405 trivia questions asked
  • 54 apples shattered in Kitchen Chemistry
  • 363 racquet balls frozen with liquid nitrogen
  • 1,123 water balloons dropped from the atrium ledge in Free Fall
  • 180 bottle rockets launched in Destination Outer Space
  • 21,218 passengers embarked on 312 Stellar Tours into digital space
  • T. rex pedicure
  • Countless laughs

Curious about what these impressive numbers look like in practice? Make sure a Science Live show is on your museum bucket list the next time you visit.
